A parade of small cars across the Mackinac Bridge is part of an effort to set a Guinness World Records mark.
State transportation officials say a mass Mini Cooper crossing of the five-mile span connecting Michigan’s Upper and Lower peninsulas is scheduled this morning. After gathering in Mackinaw City, drivers plan to head across the bridge to St. Ignace.
The event involves the Mackinac Bridge Authority, a Mini dealership from Grand Rapids and owners of the small cars.
Officials say the current record mark for a Mini Cooper parade of 1,450 was set by in 2009.
